Artist Biography
Lucy Prescott is a British artist based in Kent in the south east of England, trained at Goldsmiths College in London later specializing in Botanical art. Lucy is influenced by natural shapes and forms and the illustrative use of traditional glass paints. She is known for her use of colourful glass garden ornaments set on iron stands and painted glass wall panels using kiln-formed techniques.
Lucy’s initial interest in glass flourished after enrolling in a City and guilds stained glass course in London in the mid-1990s. This led to private commissions for stained glass panels. In the mid-2000s Lucy moved to Kent and enrolled in a City and Guilds course in fused glass at Tonbridge adult education college. This was a new direction learning to manipulate the glass through heat and being able to use her traditional painting skills as well. Lucy joined with other artist to form a group called See glass, showing and selling three times a year at the ‘Show off’ gallery in Whitstable.
Lucy is also an enthusiastic member of South East Open Studios, an inspirational opportunity every June to open her studio and garden and work with other artists to sell and share her love of glass.
Recently Lucy has been experimenting with painted imagery on wood with glass elements
